Combined Counselling for Smoking/Alcohol/ Recreational Drugs

It is better to ask about all three personal history questions and then do the counseling.

A patient may have more than one bad habit

For example a patient may be a smoker and alcoholic at the same time, or a smoker and a drug abuser at the same time.

In that case you can do combined counseling, addressing all the problems together. It saves time and sounds more logical

Combined counseling for smoking and alcohol use.

You can tell the patient.

Mr XYZ being your physician I am very much concerned about your health and I need to tell you that smoking is not good for your health. It can damage your heart, it can damage your lungs and may even cause caner. I am also concerned about your drinking. Too much alcohol can damage your heart, stomach and liver and it can also lead to cancer. So I would like you to stop smoking and quit excessive alcohol use

in the same way you can do combined counseling for smoking and illicit drug use and so on
